The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) and the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC) Discuss Cooperation in Training and Capacity Building Across African Countries
In the framework of strengthening joint African cooperation and supporting the development of the construction and building sector across the continent, a meeting was held between the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC) and the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA).
The meeting was attended by Professor Dr. Eng. Mohamed Masoud Al-Saadawi, Chairman of the Board of HBRC, and from the AFCCA side, Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of the Federation, and Ambassador Hatem Tageldin, Secretary General of the Federation.
The meeting aimed to explore avenues of cooperation in the fields of training, capacity building, and technical expertise transfer for contracting companies as well as engineering and technical professionals across African countries.
During the meeting, the distinguished research, technical, and training capabilities of the Housing and Building National Research Center were reviewed, highlighting its role as a leading center of excellence in building research, construction materials testing, development of modern and sustainable building systems, and the formulation of technical codes and standards. The Center’s extensive experience in designing and delivering specialized training programs was also emphasized.
Both parties discussed priority areas of cooperation, particularly the implementation of joint training programs targeting African contracting companies, engineers, and technicians. These programs would cover modern construction technologies, quality control and testing, occupational health and safety, project management, and the application of recognized technical standards and building codes.
The meeting also addressed mechanisms for promoting the capabilities of the Housing and Building National Research Center at the African level, through the organization of regional training courses and workshops, thereby enhancing the utilization of the Center’s expertise in supporting infrastructure projects and urban development across the African continent.
Both sides underscored the importance of developing institutional and sustainable cooperation frameworks between HBRC and AFCCA, with the aim of strengthening human capacities, improving the quality of project implementation, and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals in African countries.
This meeting reflects the shared commitment of the Housing and Building National Research Center and the African Federation of Civil Engineering Contractors (AFCCA) to expanding technical and training cooperation and building effective partnerships that support the African construction sector and enhance its competitiveness.
