Participation of the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations in the Spring Meetings of the World Construction Association in Cairo

The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) participated in the Spring Meetings of the (CICA – World Construction Association), held in Cairo on 29–30 April 2026, upon the invitation of Orascom Construction.

The meetings witnessed the participation of leaders of international contractors’ organizations and federations, alongside representatives of financing and development institutions, as well as private sector companies. The agenda also included the convening of the CICA General Assembly and an extensive workshop on the construction industry in Egypt and its future prospects.

The AFCCA delegation, led by Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of the Federation, and Ambassador Hatem Tageldin, Secretary-General, participated in the meetings and the accompanying side events. The participation provided a valuable opportunity to further expand the Federation’s network with CICA leadership, as well as representatives of participating federations, companies, and institutions, and to exchange views on fields of cooperation in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

This participation also enabled the Federation’s delegation to follow the presentations and discussions held during the workshop, which addressed a number of key topics, including the launch of the SOURCE platform for public–private partnership (PPP) projects; trends in construction activities and materials in Egypt; the role of the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors; the facilitation of licensing procedures through the “Golden License”; a review of infrastructure opportunities and projects in cooperation with the offices of the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC); the role of Afreximbank in supporting trade and investment; as well as construction project management tools; the role of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA); and a presentation on the Grand Egyptian Museum project.

The meetings were also attended by a delegation from the National Federation of Building and Public Works of the Kingdom of Morocco (FNBTP), comprising Mr. Mahboub Mohamed, President of the Federation, and Mr. Toufik Cherradi, Chairman of the Employment and Training Committee and Treasurer General of the National Federation of Building and Public Works of the Kingdom of Morocco (FNBTP), in addition to the participation of Eng. Hamdy Shehata, Member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors and Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Contractors, representing the Egyptian Federation for Construction and Building Contractors.

This participation comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation between (AFCCA) and (CICA), following the participation of Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz in the World Construction Association’s Autumn Meeting held in Paris in November 2025, as well as the virtual meeting convened in March 2026 between the leaderships of both federations to discuss prospects for joint cooperation.

The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening its relations with (CICA) and international partners, in a manner that supports capacity building, the exchange of expertise, and the enhancement of the role and presence of African contractors in sustainable development projects across the African continent.
