AFCCA Participates in the Closing of a Training Programme on Water and Sanitation Project Management and Public–Private Partnership Models in Cairo

The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) participated in the closing session of the training programme entitled “Advanced Management of Water & Sanitation Projects and Public–Private Partnership (PPP) Models for African Cities,” hosted in Cairo from 19 to 23 April 2026. The programme was jointly organized by the Housing & Building National Research Center (HBRC), through its Urban Training and Studies Institute (UTI), and the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development.

AFCCA’s participation comes within the framework of its continental role in supporting capacity building and strengthening integration among African professionals in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

During the final day, the Federation played a key role in moderating one of the panel discussions. Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of AFCCA, co-moderated the session alongside Prof. Tarek El Sheikh, Director of the Urban Training and Studies Institute (UTI). The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between African consultancy and contracting firms and their Egyptian counterparts, as well as exploring partnership opportunities in infrastructure projects.

H.E. Ambassador Hatem Tageldin, Secretary-General of AFCCA, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Federation’s activities, objectives, and its role in supporting African companies and strengthening their technical and professional capacities. In addition to his efforts to facilitate engagement with international financing institutions and to expand access to participation in projects.

The presentation further outlined the Federation’s key areas of work, including training and capacity building, knowledge transfer, and fostering collaboration among African companies—contributing to enhancing the readiness of national cadres to approach with the demands of infrastructure projects implementation.

The session witnessed strong engagement from participants representing several African countries, with emphasis placed on the importance of knowledge exchange, regional cooperation, and leveraging the institutional frameworks provided by AFCCA to support joint initiatives.

This collaboration between AFCCA and the National Housing and Building Research Center reflects the initial implementation of the recently signed cooperation protocol between the two parties, aimed to strengthening capacity building efforts and technical knowledge exchange between Egyptian institutions and their African counterparts.

At the conclusion of the programme, it was underscored that such training initiatives serve as practical platforms for advancing African integration, supporting technical personnel, and unlocking new avenues for cooperation in infrastructure, water, and sanitation sectors.
