President of the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations and Honorary President of the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries Participates in the Islamic Development Bank Group’s 2026 Annual Meetings in Baku
Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) and Honorary President of the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries (FOCIC), participated in the Islamic Development Bank Group’s 2026 Annual Meetings, hosted by the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, from 16 to 19 June 2026, under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity,” with the participation of ministers, central bank governors, decision-makers, and representatives of financing and development institutions and the private sector from member states.
The Islamic Development Bank Group’s Annual Meetings represent the principal platform for dialogue among member states and development partners, aiming to strengthen regional cooperation, exchange expertise, and build strategic partnerships in support of sustainable development and the financing of infrastructure and economic development projects in member states.
Within the framework of the official proceedings, Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz participated in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries (FOCIC), followed by the Federation’s General Assembly meeting, during which participants discussed means of enhancing the Federation’s performance, strengthening cooperation among contractors’ federations in Islamic countries, and expanding the private sector’s contribution to the implementation of development projects, in line with the priorities of the Islamic Development Bank Group in supporting economic growth and regional integration.
He also participated in the MDB Business Opportunities Forum, held with multilateral development banks, which showcased financing and contracting opportunities available to construction and engineering consultancy firms, as well as mechanisms for enhancing private sector participation in projects financed by multilateral development institutions, thereby contributing to improving the efficiency of infrastructure projects implementation and achieving sustainable development.
The participation also included attendance at the General Assembly meetings of the Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries (FCIC), and the events concluded with a joint meeting between the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries (FOCIC) and the Federation of Consultants from Islamic Countries (FCIC), which addressed enhancing integration between the contracting and engineering consultancy sectors, as well as developing joint cooperation mechanisms to keep pace with development requirements in Islamic countries.
Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz affirmed that these meetings represent a high-level international platform for strengthening cooperation between contractors’ organizations and financing and development institutions, noting that expanding partnerships with the Islamic Development Bank Group and multilateral development banks opens new horizons for African and Islamic contracting companies to participate in the implementation of infrastructure and development projects, and enhances the exchange of expertise and capacity building in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
This participation affirms the role undertaken by the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations and the Federation of Contractors in Islamic Countries in representing the contracting sector at the regional and international levels, and in strengthening its presence in international forums related to development, financing, and investment, thereby contributing to the consolidation of institutional partnerships and serving the interests of contracting companies in member states.
