AFCCA and EMEND Sign Strategic Cooperation Protocol to Advance Training and Capacity Building across Africa

In line with its strategic mandate and leading role as a continental umbrella representing construction and contracting organizations throughout Africa, the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) continues its efforts to strengthen institutional capacities and enhance human capital within the construction sector. These efforts aim to align African construction practices with the accelerating global advancements shaping the industry at both regional and international levels.

Within this context, AFCCA has signed a cooperation protocol with Egypt for Management & Engineering Development (EMEND), a distinguished firm with a strong track record in engineering consultancy, project management, and professional technical and managerial training.

The protocol was signed in the presence of Eng. Khaled Mansour, Managing Director of EMEND, accompanied by senior members of the company’s executive team. Representing AFCCA at the signing were Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of the Federation, H.E. Ambassador Hatem Tageldin, Secretary General of AFCCA, along with members of the Federation’s professional and technical staff.

This partnership draws upon EMEND’s more than twenty-five years of accumulated expertise in the development and certification of engineers and construction professionals across multiple disciplines. Over the course of its operations, EMEND has successfully qualified thousands of professionals, awarding internationally and locally recognized certifications that enhance workforce readiness and elevate professional competitiveness in increasingly demanding markets.

The protocol aims to establish a structured and sustainable framework for upgrading the professional and technical competencies of construction sector personnel across African countries. It seeks to develop a new generation of skilled professionals capable of innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness through the delivery of specialized training programs tailored to the evolving needs of the construction market and the operational requirements of contracting firms within AFCCA’s member states.

Areas of cooperation include the design and implementation of comprehensive project management programs at various proficiency levels, alongside advanced technical and administrative training initiatives. the agreement further provides for systematic knowledge exchange regarding training priorities, institutional development, and modern management methodologies within construction enterprises. In addition, the protocol supports the organization of joint workshops, forums, and awareness seminars addressing global best practices and emerging trends in construction and project delivery systems, with contributions from leading regional and international experts.

 

The cooperation framework also encompasses the delivery of a high-value portfolio of accredited professional certifications and training programs, including:

  • International Project Management Association (IPMA) certifications,
  • Project Management Professional (PMP),
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs,
  • Contractual and claims management studies in the construction industry,
  • Feasibility studies preparation and economic assessment programs,
  • As well as leadership development, executive management, risk management, quality management, planning and control, and contract administration programs.

 

Both parties emphasized that this protocol represents a strategic partnership founded on shared objectives and complementary expertise. It reflects a mutual commitment to strengthening institutional collaboration, supporting sustainable development goals, advancing the construction industry across the African continent, and empowering African professionals to operate in accordance with internationally recognized standards and best practices.
