The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) Holds Its General Assembly at the Federation’s Headquarters in Cairo on 13 June 2026
The African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA) convened its Annual General Assembly on 13 June 2026 at the Federation’s Headquarters in Cairo, with the participation of representatives of member national contractors’ associations and organizations from across the various regions of the African continent. The meeting was held within the framework of the Federation’s continued commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation and supporting the construction and infrastructure sector throughout Africa.
During the General Assembly, members reviewed the Federation’s Annual Report on its activities over the past period and discussed the key initiatives and programmes aimed at enhancing cooperation among African contractors’ organizations. The Assembly also examined the Federation’s ongoing efforts to promote regional economic integration and improve the business environment within Africa’s construction sector.
The General Assembly reaffirmed the importance of sustaining close cooperation among member organizations in addressing the challenges facing the construction industry and strengthening the role of African contractors in implementing strategic and development projects, thereby contributing to economic and social development across the continent.
At the conclusion of the General Assembly, a specialized presentation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Gabry, Vice Chairman for Members Affairs, and Dr. Amal Bilal, Secretary General, representing the Housing & Building National Research Center (HBRC) of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Their presentation highlighted the Center’s leading research and technical activities, its pivotal role in supporting the advancement of the construction and building sector, and its contributions to fostering innovation and promoting sustainability applications in infrastructure and housing projects. The presentation was met with considerable interest and engagement from participants, who emphasized the importance of exchanging technical expertise and knowledge among research institutions and professional organizations across Africa.
Finally, the General Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the Federation’s vision of building a strong, integrated, and competitive African construction sector capable of making an effective contribution to the achievement of Africa’s development agenda. The Assembly also underscored the importance of further strengthening cooperation and coordination among all members and partners in pursuit of their shared objectives.
