Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz, President of the African Federation for Construction Contractors’ Associations (AFCCA), announced that the Federation’s General Assembly Meeting will be held on 13 June 2026, bringing together presidents and representatives of contractors’ organizations from across Africa as part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Federation’s establishment.
Eng. Hassan Abdelaziz stated that the meeting will provide a comprehensive review of AFCCA’s achievements and milestones over the past two decades, highlighting its contribution to strengthening professional and economic cooperation among African contractors’ organizations and supporting sustainable development efforts and infrastructure projects across the continent.
He added that the anniversary celebrations will include a major international conference and workshop under the theme:
“Building Africa’s Future: International Partnerships, Innovation and Sustainable Infrastructure.”
The event will witness broad participation from leading construction companies, building materials manufacturers, and engineering consulting firms from African, Arab, and Islamic countries, alongside senior representatives of Egyptian, regional, and international institutions engaged in the construction, infrastructure, and development sectors.
The conference is expected to feature a number of distinguished international speakers and guests, including Mr. Philippe Dessoy, Vice President of the World Construction Association (CICA); Mr. Manish D. Kothari, Vice President of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC); and Eng. Mohammad Kabbani, Chairman of Lebanon’s Council for Development and Reconstruction. The event will also bring together Eng. Ali F. Al-Sanafee, President of the Federation of Arab Contractors (FAC); Eng. Zakariya Abdulrahman Al-Abdulqader, President of the Federation of Contractors from Islamic Countries (FOCIC); as well as presidents and representatives of African, Arab, and Islamic professional organizations.
The conference will address a range of strategic issues and key themes, including strengthening international cooperation to build a sustainable and globally competitive African construction industry; advancing governance, transparency, and future contracting models for international infrastructure projects; examining the role of national and international partners in Lebanon’s reconstruction efforts and future development prospects; and discussing the major challenges and opportunities facing Africa’s construction and infrastructure sectors in the years ahead.
The event will provide an important platform for the exchange of expertise and the development of professional and investment partnerships, contributing to the advancement of infrastructure and development initiatives and supporting greater economic integration among African countries and their regional and international partners.
